"Imagine...on a single day, from sunrise to sunset our 30,000 restaurants around the world open their doors to 46 million people and take a moment to help children everywhere, in every community where we do business.
That vision will become reality on November 20, 2002 - World Children's Day at McDonald's. This unprecedented worldwide fundraising effort will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) and help children everywhere. The event will take place simultaneously in our 30,000 McDonald's restaurant locations in 121 countries around the world."
IMAGINE:
"Shocking new evidence of starvation in South Africa came to light this month, triggering the Health Department to call for emergency food relief. The report on nutrition in South Africa surveyed 3000 children and found that almost two-thirds of all households experienced food shortages. It also found that an alarming number of mothers were eating less to save food for their children."
IMAGINE:
Half of the 3 120 children surveyed in a national food consumption survey were found to have less than half the recommended level of nutrients such as calcium, iron and zinc.
About 75% of South Africans have inadequate access to food, according to a government estimation.
HIV/Aids and job losses have contributed massively to the number of starving children being admitted to hospitals.
IMAGINE:
... the situation is getting worse rather than better.
IMAGINE:
... if Karyn can get US$20,000.00 to pay for an overused credit card, what the world can do to help hungry children. Why save Karyn when kids are starving?
IMAGINE:
... the little children's faces when receiving A BIG MAC. This is something these little ones can only dream of.
IMAGINE:
... that you can help to make it happen.
